I have been very busy at the home front these days. I find summer especially busy because the kids are home all day and they need a lot of entertaining. This year I have my younger cousin helping me to control the masses, and boy am I grateful for the extra pair of hands. 

There would have been a time that I would have felt guilty for asking for the extra help, especially because I am paying for it. I have come along way and I realize that in order to have balance in my life, there are times when I need to call on others for help. I have come to realize that there is no other job where employees are expected to be on call for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I did try to meet this ridiculous expectation for nine years which just ended up leading me to feeling anxious and burnout. I am wiser now and see the error of my ways.

Whenever the door bell rings, and my cousin walks into my house, it is like a breath of fresh air. I am always telling her how much I love having her around. I am not sure if she really knows how much I mean this but I am sure that if she becomes a mother, she will look back and understand at a deeper level how much help she  has offered me this summer. Hopefully this will give her the permission to ask for her own help when the times arises. But right now I am just so happy she is the one helping me.
